Stardust Las Vegas

NOTE: The Stardust closed its doors permanently Nov. 1, 2006 to make way for the new "Echelon Place" which is scheduled to open in 2010. The new resort development will have 4 hotels (5,300 rooms), shopping, two theaters, a massive convention area and 140,000 square feet of casino space.

The Stardust opened its doors in July of 1958. At the time it set the standard for hotels and was one of the largest in the world. The resort became famous for its mobbed past. In the 1995 movie "Casino," Robert DeNiro played the finely tailored Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, who ran the hotel casino in the mid-1970's.

The Stardust was imploded / destroyed on March 13, 2007.
